I have the same hood and am thinking of doing something like this on mine also, but what do you do if caught in a rain storm. yep i cut the middle out, ive been in the rain already with it and the filter stays dry it off to the side so it doesn't affect it. i just could'nt handle having that cheap plastic peace on there any more ... i hated it!
