natalie_ss
Hello everyone, we are new here! We just got our SS less than a month ago, we have not even made the first payment and I got into a wreck yesterday afternoon coming home from work. We have a 03 Silverado, it had only 40,000 miles on it when we bought and was in perfect condition. We paid 20,100 for it. I was doing about 65 going down the hwy and a lady in a corolla pulled out an hit me. I tried to turn the wheel to miss her but she still hit me then I spun around and finally stopped. We are all ok and I just have a sore next and back and a headache since the wreck. The other lady was in the wrong. The adjuster is coming Monday or Tuesday to check it out. Just wondering if they are going to total it or not.... We looked so hard for this perfect low miles SS and not even a month and it is wrecked! Not to happy!! You can't see in the pics, the front bumper and rim have some scratches on them also. The cab on the floor board is all damaged where it was hit. BlueAKSSS
Welcome to the site, sorry to hear that you got hit! From the pictures I'm guessing the frame isn't bent but there's just surface damage as well as major cab damage. Probably going to be totaled I'm guessing although it could be rebuild with some work. Fireman31
Welcome to the site and I am sorry to hear/see what happened, at least you are okay. I hate to say it, but I believe there is a really good chance it will be totalled.
GetWithIt
Welcome--- Sorry to hear about your truck....I encountered the same scenario when I first bought my SS...I had only owned it for about 4 1/2 weeks...coming home from work, and a deer decided to plow into my drivers side doors.......I was so mad that I jumped outta the truck...ran back to the deer and started kicking the ever-loving ***t out of it. (Good thing he was dead, or that could have turned out bad for me... ) I think back now, and realize why nobody stopped to help....Seeing a grown man kicking a dead deer kinda makes you a little leery............ Anyways, hope everything turns out for you and keep us updated...........
natalie_ss
Thanks everyone! It just sucks because if they fix it then I will have this truck that has been wrecked! From 2003-2008 the man only put less than 20,000 miles on it, it was his 3rd vehicle so he barely used it, the guy that had it after that put the other 20,000. This truck was in perfect condition. If they total it we just put a big down payment on it, paid taxes and warranty! I want every penny back that we paid, yesterday made 1 month we had it. It would be sad if we lose money after just paying all that! This also happened on my second day on a new job, I had to call in on my 3rd day! Even with all the s**t we will have to go through, I am just thankful that I am ok and that there were no major injuries bc the speed I was going and the way it spun it definately could have flipped, thankful it did not. They lady that pulled out had 2 small kids with her, but they are all ok also.
bloodclot
sorry for ur loss. but its hurt. id be surprised if it wasnt totaled. if it does total u can still keep it and get it repaired but will have salvage title.
rojo_143
Well i am glad that you along with everyone involved was ok. An important thing to remember is that you can always find another vehicle but people can never be replaced. Judging by the pictures i would have to agree with the majority of it being totaled out. another question is did you have gap coverage on your loan cause that will ensure that you will get all of the money back instead of just the trucks value. good luck natalie and keep us posted. Yes, we did get gap insurance. But I don't know how that works since we put $5600 down. I am wondering if the gap only covers what is fiananced or even the amount put down. I don't have the paper work on that, it just shows on the loan that we got the gap insurance.
tawss04
That sucks sorry to hear that. I had an old man pull out in front of me on mothers day. Luckily mine was just cosmetic. The truck looks bad but with the right body guy could be fixed and you would not notice it. Dont know where you live, in Florida (where I live) when its totaled they give you an unbuildable salvage title. They change the law a while back, they totaled my last truck and wouldn't give me rebuildable title. If its 80% or more to repair it they total it. What you can do if you want to keep it, you can tell them to give you 78% of the value of the truck and fix it yourself. Hope all works out. delay18
Welcome! Sorry to see that. It is def a nasty hit. I have a feeling that it will be totalled. I hope it all work out. Let us know how you made out! Good Luck!
natalie_ss
Thanks again everyone! The adjuster came yesterday and it is totaled! They are giving us what the truck is worth and the taxes we paid. At first we would have been in the hole about $500 but my husband called them again and told them about all the extras we have on it and they added another $500 so it is pretty much exactly what we paid maybe a little more. I am glad about that! Now its time to find something else. My husband went look at a 08 trailblazer ss today and they let him bring it home for the night. I might be driving a trailblazer ss if the numbers work out right. Now if only I could get rid of this headache, neckache & backache everything would be great but I think I will have to go to therapy for that. I went back to the doctor today and he said I have whiplash and possibly ruptured disc. That sucks! But I guess it could have been worse so I am lucky!!
