Deuce426 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Ok quick question... Are there any differences between the 10 bolt rear differentials and axles? I mean more specifically, are all of the rear's the same across the board between 4wd, AWD, and 2wd trucks? I only ask because I'd like to switch my 05 2wd 1500 from drum, to disc... and I'm sure that swapping to an axle that is already set up for it would be much easier and possibly cheaper than converting over my drum axle. Fireman31 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 You are better off getting the rear brake parts off an AWD SSS and switching out the drums then the entire axle. There are differences between 4WD/AWD/RWD, mainly ratios, but the big difference in that the RWD SSS doesn't even have a 10 bolt, it has a 14 bolt which is stronger then a 10 bolt.... Quote

Are the axle shafts the same on the 14 bolt and the 10 bolt? My axles are bent which cause the truck to shake a bit. Quote
