Jordmagg
I am looking at replacing my stock speakers for my SSS. What size are they for the front and rear and what recommendations to you have to replace the stock ones?
El Chivo 1986
Go with JL Audio all the way around front 6 1/2 and rear 4x6 but it will come with a braket but the speaker is a little smaller.

Miller812
For direct factory replacement I would go with alpine type s 6.5 but if your going to amp them then get rockford power series, they scream man. Rockford power series is my personal favorite speakers. Don't get me wrong I love jl but soooooo expensive. I choose jl for subs tho no doubt best subs. RamAirZ
I like Alpine AND JL, but my fav's have always been MB Quart for component speakers. I'm currently running Pioneer speakers in mine (came with the truck) and an MTX Thunderform under the rear seat and love the way it sounds actually. My last truck I ran Kicker KS speakers front/rear, Kicker amp and 2 Rockford P2's under the rear seat (they fit my space needs teh best) and it sounded amazing. As far as JL being the best sub, I'd say they are up there for sure, I really like Kicker too (ran both, liked my L7's better than my W3's and W6's) Infinity is also good, they have some really nice SQ speakers/subs
silverado777
I would go with JL Audio or Diamond Audio. Do 6.5'' components up front and 5.25'' components in the rear (These will require slight modification) . I'll never do a 2 way or 3 way speaker again. Components are the only way to go. FYI you get what you pay for. Buy cheap get cheap.

I have had Diamond Audio HEX series components in my truck for the past 3 years and abused them and they are still as loud and clear as the day I bought them. diggerdan11
Whats wrong with the stock Bose I think the stock bose system is amazing. I replaced the speakers in my 01 chevy with Alpine Components and an alpine amp. The sound was great but when i got my SS IMO the bose system sounded just as good. But if you want to get ne speakers, go with components at least in the front but the back is good too. IMO Alpine FTW

Pillar or just in the door? Also where in the rear? I'm asking so I get the best sound.
paulguy
I always put the tweeters in the the door panel above the speaker behind the grill like where there are on the 99-02 trucks. There's not alot of room in the a-pillars for aftermarket tweets. Don't waste your money on rear components.

However I will disagree with not using components in the rear. Made a big difference in my truck. Its the same as home audio. Why would you put bad a$$ speakers in front and cheap ones in the rear? This is my own opinion though. I would rather be surrounded my clean, crisp music rather than just doing it half assed.
silverado777
Its kinda hard to see but here is where I mounted my tweeters. In the front I just used the factory tweeter mount. I cut out the old tweeter with a dremel and cut a 1 inch diameter hole for the new tweeter. Its kinda hard to see in this picture. In the rear I just cut a 1 inch diameter hole next to the speaker and flush mounted them in the door panel. Just make sure you try and get center. Obviously I jacked that up lol.
