Looks like a very sweet 56 in the making. Off to a nice start! My 1st car was a 56 2 dr hd top. All original. Inherited it from my great uncle that bought it new. He and dad worked together. Had the 265 power pak . I used to drive it up and down the dirt roads i grew up on. I know the guy thats has it now.

He has a 55 and a 57 to go with it. The 56 is still awaiting the street rod resto.

Good luck with it. I love the 56's because you don't see as many as the other shoe boxes.

I agree that this is looking really good, and will be a great project. I'm another one whose first car was a '56 Chevy. Mine, however, was a 4-door 150 model. I built a lightly modified 283 for it (cam, heads, and a couple of other "minor" things). I loved that car. :chevy:

its coming along nicely didnt know you were going full tube chassis . you'll have some major coin in it when its done for sure.

i like the future build plans only thing id stray from is that trans . until they get some real aftermarket support i wouldnt depend on it behind 600 + rwhp. the 4l80 6 speed from tci would be an option though.

also the wheels , your headed in the right direction the wider 20+ wheels look awesome tucking. there isny much for 22's yet though the mt street tires they make for up to 18 wide is limited to 20's . i think a 22 in the rear will be a bit big and youll have to run a rubber band on it . a 20 with the sportsman from mt in a 12-14 wide would be my pick. either way post pic's of the progress as it comes .

Well I definetely want the 6 speed automatic trans. Many voted for the manual but not on this one. I've actually seen a 56 on 22 inch rears locally and it is sick. It will primarily be a show car then a cruiser so I expect a very small sidewall tire. I've seen the 20/18 combo but am trying to build something that hadn't been done before. That's not the easiest to do with a tri five. This is another reason for an all stainless tube chassis. High tensile strength and light weight. Shaves 150 lbs off chassis weight. I'll keep you guys posted.

* also feel free to send me money to finish it!! :pepsicheer:
