I've been looking at doing the LED swap and doing red lights everywhere but the gauges. My old Mazda3 had blue gauge faces with red needles and I loved the look. I'm definitely looking pretty seriously at doing this. It'd be nice to see it finished before I do! Is there a separate LED for lighting the needle? Nice work, man! No the needles are powered by the blue LED's. So I am hoping the red needles do not look purple. If they do I might ave to fabricate white LED's behind the needles.
