jon1178
just wanted to let everyone know about a possible corrosion problem if it goes unaddressed. i was detailing the truck today when i noticed a couple leaves behind the small piece of cladding behind the front tires. i could not reach the leaves so i decided to pull off the piece of cladding to get to them and i found a lot of mud/dirt and debris in a little pockets behind the fender liner. enought that i could scoop it out with my hands. my truck rarely sees rain let alone a dirt road. i thought i would post this because i figured it may become an issue with rust if left unnoticed. ThatTallCanadian
Is it easy to remove the cladding and reinstall it? This sounds like its going to be a big problem for me as I have to DD mine through winter.

I have helped dismantle 2 SSS trucks and discovered the same issue, one originally from NY and a second originally from SoCal; the California truck was really bad, it had more than a handful of desert silt packed in there. Every couple times a year I take the truck to the power car wash and spray underneath the truck into the gaps between the bottom cladding edge and the metal rocker sills, lots of stuff gets windblown into there as well. ALSO reminded me, another 'dirt trap' is underneath the truck waaayyy up around the front stake pockets & headgate area, as well as the interiors of the bed side rails, I watched a friend prep a truck bed for painting and the power washer brought down enough dirt/mud/sand to fill a couple quart jars, we were both surprised how much had collected up in there. You don't have to remove the cladding; you do have to unbolt the plastic inner fender liner and pull it forward, that gives easy access to the area. Mr. P.
