shawnss
Well i started my 80 swap into the truck yesterday. last August i lost my second built 60. so i wanted to give the 80 swap a try. before i lost my tranny last august everytime i would start the truck it would make a weird clicking noise. so i took it to a tranny shop here in town and they said it sounded like a few different things. they said it could be the pump going bad , or something in the TC and last they said the flex plate could be broke. well after removing the transmission last night i could clearly see what the problem was. the flex plate is cracked in like 6 places. kinda glad the transmission failed when it did. i don't think the flex plate had much life left in it. it was very close to coming apart. heres some pics. pretty bad. Seriously, you just found that in time. yeah very close. glad its not my DD and that i only put 600 miles on it last season and no it wasn't 600 mile of it making that noise. it was like 100 or so. but those 100 miles are hard miles. just glad i found it before it came apart. im not sure how much it would have hurt. i guess it really depends on how high the RPMs would have been.
