Raven698
Hey guys. I just acquired a 2003 SSS. The truck is mint other then the driver mirror looks like it took a rock at highway speeds. It has a hole smashed in the black frame piece that surrounds the body colored panel. How do I get the mirror off of the truck? Where can I find a decently priced replacement. A GM dealership would charge me 500 plus labor in replacing it, and that sounds ludicrous to me. Thanks! Mike

Mike Mirrors easy, open the door. At the top of door panel towards the front is a triangle shaped panel. Pull that off, its metal clips that just pull out. After that take a flat screw driver and pry off the door lock indicator, the entire thing not just the part that slides. Then take a 7mm socket and remove the bolt behind the lock indicator and the other 7mm bolt under the arm rest. Also where the door handle is on the door panel, pop the bezel surrounding the handle. Then lift up on the panel a little and it will tilt out towards you. Disconnect all the connections underneath the window switches and the light at the bottom of the door. Then remove the nuts, there may be foam where you removed the first triangle panel just pull it out, behind the foam at the mirror and disconnect the mirrors plug. As far as getting replacement parts. Ebay is a good if you know what your looking for, otherwise a place like gmpartsdirect.com but your gonna pay more. You could also try local junk yards, might get lucky Good Luck Edited March 8, 2011 by josh03ss (see edit history)

Raven698
Thanks Guys. What is Mr P's full user name so I can message him. I will look through a couple of posts to see if I can find it first. Thanks for the good write up on taking the mirror off! Mike
misterp
Yup I destroyed my driver's mirror and I looked on searchallcraigslist.com and searched for 'DL3 mirror' and found a guy selling them used for $215, the one I received looked/worked fine. The guy's name is Gerald Hoppe, [email protected]. I am sorry I do not have his phone number, I have lost it. Also, do keep checking searchallcraigs for "DL3 mirror" and you will find one for less than $200. Make sure to ask if they can guarantee that all functions worked when it was pulled! Mr. P.
