Need Some Audio Help

Recommended Posts

When I first purchased my truck used, I noticed that there were two RCA cables, a remote wire, a ground wire and a positive wire ran under my rear seat. On the underside of the rear seat I can see the indention of an amplifier. I decided to see where those wires originated today and when I took apart my center console I found a speaker to RCA adapter spliced into the factory wiring. What exactly does this allow me to do? Does it allow me to amplify the door speakers, the factory sub or add a sub? The reason I ask is because I was prepared to purchase the PAC oem-1. Would I still have any use for it? Sorry for my ignorance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The rca adapter is tied to the speaker lines for your input for the amp. It is probably hooked to subs to add a bass amp but you need to look at which wires are hooked up to the adapter to be sure.

It's not as good as a aoem gm24, but it'll work.

You could just try it.

Hmm... so maybe the RCAs went to an amp and then the amp was connected to subs? I believe I saw the adapter connected to a light blue wire with a white stripe and a green wire with a black stripe. I'll have to look later to see all of the wires that were tapped into.

Ya those are sub wires.
