airmanramsey
Okay I just bought my first SS Silverado about two weeks. I'm looking forward to working on it. I have a couple quick questions about installing a after market amp, along with a sub. I've looked at a couple other threads talking about installing a amplifier on here. Ive never installed a amplifier before, I usually get someone to do it. I'm looking at using a PAC unit to keep my factory head-unit. Heres the link to the one I'm looking at http://www.amazon.com/03-07-ADD-AMPLIFIER-FACTORY-AUDIO/dp/B001EAQTIW/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3CLUVIHI97CI4&colid=2K45SD43G5XEK I have a question on the amplifier do I need a 4 Channel? Also what RCA Cables (4 Channel?) do I need to hook up my amp to the PAC unit?
paulguy
I have that adapter and it works good. Your asking if you need a 4 channel? How many speakers do yo want to amplify?

It has a two channel input, doesn't matter which lines on the output converter.

Okay I was looking at this bass package at crutchfield: http://www.crutchfie...age.html?tp=442 think thatll work along with the PAC unit and the amp and rca cables? Ya everything is alright except that box won't fit under the seat. You need to search for a 99-07 ext cab 6.5' box for under the seat. And you need an amp kit which will come with all the wiring you need except for the Pac piece.

stg313
Okay I was looking at this bass package at crutchfield: http://www.crutchfie...age.html?tp=442 think thatll work along with the PAC unit and the amp and rca cables? I dont know how much bass your really looking for in your truck, but Alpine type E's are kinda poopy......... Getting just one 10 or 12 to fit in your truck in a cookie cutter box may work but its not gonna be loud at all.... If you could find a nice ported box for one 10 that will fit under your rear seats that may work, but the website that I like doesnt sell anything that I know for sure will fit. Making your own box is a good way to go for just one single sub. Dont quote me on this but I am fairly certain that this sub/box combo will fit under your rear seat if you raise it about an inch...... Link And you can use this amp Link I reall think that that will sound pretty damn good, but again you need to make sure you have 15 inches of clearance under your seat before you order that setup! Try this box if your looking for 2 10s Link I had this box for 2 12s, but I recommend you go with the 2 10s linked above. Downfiring boxes sound WAY better in our trucks link Now on to subs..... I would do Pioneer shallow mounts...... Link or Alpine Type R shallows if you want more bass Link And just to keep it matching, this Pioneer amp or similar, bridged, for the Pioneers. link The Alpines are better subs, so maybe this amp, also bridged Link That Pioneer setup should sound pretty damn good and give you quite a bit of thump. You wont really be able to feel the air shaking for the most part, maybe on songs with a multitude of bass. The Alpine setup is more expensive but should give you much better sound. Let me know if you want anymore help. Good luck! Edited March 16, 2011 by Stg313 (see edit history)
eeekroar
Hey STG, why do you recommend the shallows? Will a regular ten not fit the down-fire or just more volume inside of the box?
paulguy
Hey STG, why do you recommend the shallows? Will a regular ten not fit the down-fire or just more volume inside of the box? I was wondering the same thing. I ran alpine r-type 10`s in mine and I`m thinking of going with x-type 10`s next. There`s lots of room. Shallow subs are ridiculous $ and they don`t put out as much as regular subs.
