keggerss
Something has come up and I have to make a road trip this weekend and I have to have tires by Saturday. So ordering online is out. I have shopped around locally today and here are the only two that I can find that are close to what I want. I'm just looking for some input on which i should roll with. Cooper Discoverer HT Plus $175 ea mounted and balanced plus tax dealer includes free rotations and free one time balance check http://coopertires.com/html/products/tires_suv.aspx?page=discoverer_ht_plus&search=bySize&twtd=275&artw=55&rd=20 Falken Ziex S/TZ-04 $170 ea mounted and balanced plus tax http://www.falkentire.com/Tires/Ziex-S-TZ04-
silverado777
Not sure about the coopers but I know the falkens are steel belted. As long as the coopers aren't steel belted then I would go with them. Edited March 17, 2011 by Silverado777 (see edit history)
ThatTallCanadian
I have the coopers on my truck. came new on the truck when I bought it in September, they ride pretty nice and have good grip for me at least. Pretty good in the snow too.
T-Bag
between those 2 on your time frame I'd say Coopers IMHO, the Falkens wear out quick, had Falkens on my DD b4. Different model tire though of course, just sayin.....
smoothdime
I've ran coopers before on other vehicles and never had a problem. coopers get my vote!!
Warden
Are steel belts a problem on trucks?I have older Falkens on my C5 and they have worked out well. Thanks Not sure about the coopers but I know the falkens are steel belted. As long as the coopers aren't steel belted then I would go with them. silverado777
If you get a blow out with a steel belted the whole tread will come off. Depending on how fast you are going this tread will fly off with tremendous force and will definitely do some body damage.

hawks
hancook is the best I have had. I looked up the reviews on the Hankook ST RHO6 Tires and it gets great ratings. I may go with these myself instead off the Kumho Ecsta STX Tires. Ratings on them are not that great.

I have gotten a crazy amount of miles out ouf the three sets i have owned, My old truck was a 4.8l 2wd. I had 275 45 20's hancooks and we had a terrible ice/snow storm, of course i could makes it slide but it did great. I never noticed the road noise. ocelot729
Not to take away from the topic at hand, coopers BTW. But I'm looking for tires myself, and I'm quite loyal to Bridgestone / Firestone tires, but I'm looking at a set of General Grabber UHP's. So it's down to General Grabber UHP's vs Firestone Destination ST's vs Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport's. Anyone got some advice? Kinda leaning towards General's... but my loyalty is holding me back Edited March 30, 2011 by Bad Company (see edit history)
simz28
I just got the Destination ST's on my truck about 2 weeks ago. So far im pretty happy with them. Havent really driven them hard, or in the rain yet though.

Havent really driven them hard, or in the rain yet though. I think I'm gonna rock the ST's too, the General's are directional, so the spare tire will be set for one side and if I do get a blowout, I have to hope it's on the side the spare is set for. I like Firestone better, though if you buy 4 new general tires you get a $50 visa gift card cus of 5 fast 5 furious coming out. lol
