Ok so I came out with a plan what I wanna do is start buying parts little by little but for now im just gonna get some 41-985 Iridium spark plugs, Taylor 79205 409 pro race 10.4mm (is 10.4 mm right or do I need the 8mm?) spark plug wires, and a SPL 160 T Stat. I know the 160 T Stat is a must and the red plug wires will look nice but the spark plugs are what im not sure of. My truck has 68k miles right now its an 06 all I have right now is an CAI. Its not gonna cost alot to get these parts but if there gonna help even just a little ill just get everything.

i had the big taylor they worked fine.

i also run the msd's now and they are fine , either will do .

for a stock truck the tr55ix is a good choice . they will also last quite a while.

I didn't notice the slp thing lol what's the difference between the 8s and 10s?

One just has a double jacket on it for protection. Both have the same size core wire. I have been running the AC Delco Iridums 41-985 in my truck and MSD wires without issues.

I believe AC Delco has changed the part number from 41-985 to 41-110 if I remember correctly, or you can get an NGK 7164(Tr55iX) since they are virtually the same thing. Either the MSDs or Taylors are fine, it was the older Taylor wires that had issues which were corrected several years ago.....

Right..... Last week I did SLP 160*, Iridiums and the stupid expensive Granatelli plug wires. It gave me at least that !

Lol did you notice anything at all after you did all that? Mpg or run a little better?

Can I put the 160 t stat on befor I get a tune? Wil it be ok without a tune? Might be a few months until I get a tune.

Yes, you"ll run cooler but without the slight timing advance tuners can tweek to get those 1,2 or few hp from the 160 you won't really get any gains. Plus your fans might not kick on until re-tune since you're running cooler. Look at is this way, the mechanical aspect of the t-stat will function fine but the PCM won't utilize the mechanical mods until it's tuned, it's the brain of your truck.

Are you planning on headers? If so, go with Taylors 10.4's for 2 reasons. Both times I ran MSD's and removed em to install headers 1 or 2 of them broke. I used di-electric grease and a proper wire removal tool with gentle pressure and still broke. The Taylor's will insulate against header heat better theoredically and have a different boot design to remove easier. At 68K change those plugs! Mine were fouled, black and corroded at 59K. Also make sure you use anti-seize compund when replacing your plugs on those aluminum heads.

One other piece of info. by running a 160 without a tune since ur running cooler, your truck might not go from open to closed loop and burn extra gas

Im hoping a tuner could chime in and clarify that

Right away with plugs/wires, no tune I really felt a snappier truck.

Haven't noticed mileage yet with the combo.

I drove for a few days before the tune went in. Initial tune had a 2006 only issue with something and Justin at Blackbear worked it out. Also had to reflash fans to come on at 190 since they were coming on nearly all the time with initial tune and that Tstat. Right now all is good and I'm happy with the result.

I never ran anti seize on the plugs and never had issues removing them. Also never needed to use a removal tool with MSD wires (ever). Always used my hands and they came off with out issues.

The truck WILL go into closed loop operation with or without a tune. You will be fine.
