guineag60
Hi everyone, My buddy just got a custom grind cam for his T/A and said i could have his old cam which is TSP's 233/239 .595" .603" 112lsa if that cam will fit my stock 05 lq9 with the 317's. I searched and couldnt find anyone running that cam which makes me think its not possible. Any info would be great, Thanks for the time. I have a larger cam in a 5.7 with smaller CC... It will need a heck of a stall.3600 at least id figure
shadowsniper3006
To damn big. I'm running a 235-240 on a 111 and its just to big for the normal guy. For an all out set up with minimal street time you could pull it off but it still wouldn't be worth it with out mods to support a cam like that. I'm running a 4500 stall and still can't 60 foot as good as my 224 cam did with a 4000 stall. The 4000 stall was an overkill for the 224 cam but even that really needed around a 3400-3500 to really launch good. Your shift points with a cam like that through a truck intake, i would guess would be around 6700-6900. My truck has a carb style intake on it so it raises my shift points on that alone, but my set up needs to shift around 7200 range, i just don't have big enough balls to spin her that high on stock rod bolts so i'm shifting at 6900 for all gears. I'm thinking about down grading to a cam with that intake duration just to control my shift points a little bit, and maybe get a touch more torque around my converter flash. For PTV, you always need to check, but i'm running 65 cc heads with larger valves with stock pistons and a 235 duration with .650 lift and have around .080 of clearance if i remember right on the intake Edited March 30, 2011 by shadowsniper3006 (see edit history)
guineag60
Circle D spec'd out a T/C for the cam. They said there stage 2 258mm with a 3400 stall. They said it would have good street manors. It seems like the power down low should be about the same and get some good power up top. Im prob gonna get springs and pushrods and put the cam in and see how it is.
Cramer
Don't forget injectors, trans cooler, build the trans, tune. Hopefully you have the mods to support this cam. It is a big one for it, and I would go higher with the stall too. Low end with this cam won't be like stock. The duration is high, but the lsa might bring it down a little in the powerband. You will more than likely be driving off the converter when in town. It can and has been done, so good luck with it.
