crf250rider
I have been dealing with this for a while and its become a nuisance. At night, my headlights will only turn on if I flip my brights lever and not automatically, like they should. The brights don't even work anymore because the bright lever controls only the regular driving lights. I do have HIDs, but I have had them for about 4 years with no problems until this starting happening. I did get a dyno tune on my truck and noticed that it started hapenning soon after this was done. Do you guys think they could have done something wrong in the tune for this to happen? Any ideas on how to fix this?
misterp
The tune (PCM) has nothing to do with the lighting systems of the truck. And, the computer modules (PCM, BCM) have no control of the headlights, the wires to the relays controlling the headlights go directly to the manual switch on the dashboard and the stalk (high-beam) control. Step one is to temporarily put the headlights back to stock - meaning, don't remove the ballasts etc but do unplug the HIDs and momentarily plug all 4 halogen bulbs back into the OE lighting harness connectors and then test functionality of the lights - if the lows & highs work then the problem is not the truck, but the aftermarket HID ballasts. I just ran through this on another member's truck which started having HID ballast issues 2-weeks after installing the 4-way diode mod, after replacing all 4 halogens back in the truck everything worked fine with the factory setup; I've determined and suggested that the ballasts he has purchased need direct power from the battery via relays, we will be installing an additional HID primary power relay setup that is switched off the truck's electrical harness... What HID ballasts are you running? Mr. P.

misterp
Let us know if the truck still works correctly when you go (momentarily) go back to hallogens...
