BlownFogger540
So my project keeps going crazier and had a idea since the truck will never go back to stock keep in mind when you vote this is not a daily driver nor a dedicated strip truck, but a weekend go fast street machine fully loaded a/c leather have fun I have a back half mandrel bent X frame, 4 link, 40 spline sheet metal 9" rear end from another project that wont get done in the next 10 years lol as my 69 Camaro moly chassis car will be getting finish after my SS below 11.99 et i would have to put a cage in the truck anyways so I'm hot to just tub it and be done with the awd drive train Edited July 7, 2011 by BlownFogger540 (see edit history)
zippy
I would get rid of the awd, but I sure wouldn't tub it. The awd is better if street only is your plan. Honestly I'd say just do a 14 bolt with drum brakes in the rear and do a 315/60R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radial with resonable front runner. That tire is enough to go 9's or probably 8's if you setup the suspension right. There are many options, but if you want to do something really creative which you are good at, build a 5 link suspension system like the Tahoe/Suburban have which will both hook and ride a ton better. BTW, motor is very pretty.

jddmj
Just from seeing the front end of your truck, im glad im going down the right path lol I say tub it with some 22x10 rims. I seen another truck like that, and it was pure sexy. Looking good!

SSplaytoy
After painting or polishing that alternator, I say tub the truck and ditch the awd. I trust you would do the entire floor in a show truck style and not just a hack job adding tubs. By doing this, you will add more weight which could help with hooking, but you know how power/weight ratio works if you're looking for the fastest possible e/t. Overall, nice lookin setup so far man Edited July 7, 2011 by SSplaytoy (see edit history)
idahoBLKss
i would keep the awd, imo its what makes these trucks unique . its the reason i bought the truck to begin with ...lol either way brad i know you'll do it right which ever way you go. SSplaytoy
Keeping it awd and a reliable, sometimes street driven, drag truck, will cost more overall. By ditching the setup, he'll drop a decent amount of weight too.

04CHASE
i told you my thoughts , to me the awd is waht makes it unique and being to spank anything on the street from a dig or a roll for me is priceless.
thomp62301
Theres nothing like blowing smoke off them front tires. Keep the AWD!

sprayed99
Tub the damn thing and be done. The amount of work required to make the AWD reliable is a pain in the ass. Going Rwd opens a ton of different rear suspension combos that you wouldn't normally do with the AWD. Besides be different we all like to see people go outside the box. I think thats the way im heading, AWD limitation will be how to hook it all up, and im not to fond of buying 4 slicks and they still want a cage below 11.
