jddmj
My younger brother recently picked up a 2001 GMC Sierra for a daily driver. He wanted a after market CD player installed in it, which wasn't a problem. As we was installing the radio, when we was pushing the unit into the dash kit, the dash lights was pulsing. Once the radio finally made it back into the hole, the truck lost the dash lights. The only way we can get the gears to light up is to turn the switch all the way up. We took the radio back out, and put the old orig. back in, it still didnt work. We checked for broke wires, checked fuses, and cant seem to find the issue. Any ideas? paulguy
If you pinched a wire when putting the deck in, yo should have blown a fuse. How are you checking them? The only other thing it can be is a blown dimmer which is part of the light switch. Have a new switch to try?

We was going to try another switch, but ran out of time. He said now its really getting on his nerves. I will try to look at the fuses for him when he's around. He's in high school, and involved in sports. So he's on the road all the time.
