silverado777
So since I have drums in the rear I have been looking for an axle with the same gear ratio and with disc brakes, The one below comes with 3.73's with calipers and brakes lines and e-brake lines. Only problem is it does not have the G80 limited slip like mine does. I found a shop that would take the G80 out of mine and install it in the other axle and install in for me for free if I leave them my old axle. Kinda almost sounds too good to be true. Anyone have a reason why I shouldn't do this? http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/pts/2608334189.html
2001silverado364
How you know it doesn't have a g80, most silverados did have that.
silverado777
Got the VIN off the donor truck and call the dealer.
2001silverado364
Why didn't you check the vin yourself if you know it? You know, just to make sure. 3.73s without a g80 is interesting. Edited September 20, 2011 by 2001silverado364 (see edit history)

I called the guy and got the VIN off the truck then I called the dealer to see what it has. I asked the dealer if there is any other way to see what it has in it but he said the VIN is the only way. chpspecial
The parking brake mechanism sucks on the trucks with discs. But peddle feel and brake performance makes up for that issue. sent from my thunderbolt
Silverad0 SS
I'd rather have the drum for towing, disc just look so much better then that ugly ass drum

I'd rather have discs for towing, you need good brakes on the back when you're towing, IMO.
silverado777
We don't have any hills in AZ so I'm not too worried about the parking brake. However, I never get out of my truck without it on. The main reason I want the swap is for the looks of it.
