Sub Amp Help

Recommended Posts

I'm running two Kicker Comp 10" Subs in a probox under the back seat of my 05 SS. I have a Sony Xplod 700w amp powering both of them. I'm using a factory head unit. When the volume is less than half way up it sounds great and powers good. On the other hand, when I have the volume any above half the amp turns its self off and won't work until I turn the truck off and back on. HELP!

Your gain setting on the amp is too high or your rca lines are too high. Or did you just tap into the speaker wires and plug them into the high level inputs on the amp? In other words, you need to tell us how you wired the inputs on it. It's obvious that it's going into "safe" mode to prevent burning up the pre stages in the amp.

The power is wired to the accessory for the truck. The RCA's are tied into the factory sub. Does that help?

Well, I figured that much. Eventually that light will turn red and stay red though trust me. You'll have to buy another amp if that happens. But like I said, you're probably getting too much power (voltage) on your inputs or your gain is bad, those two things are both simple to adjust, I assumed you installed it yourself, but if not go back where you got it and tell them to adjust your gains properly.
