bradss_03 Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 I have an 03 Silverado SS and lately when i go to take off, it doesnt have the power it should when taking off. Also when I am getting up to speed it doesnt seem like the truck is shifting into the next higher gear because the RPMs continue to stay high. Anyone experienced this problem???? Thanks! Quote
BlueAKSSS Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Sounds like your transmission is on its way out. Probably needs a rebuild how many miles are on it? Quote
bradss_03 Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 It just turned 90k. I know its in need of a transmission service which I was actually going to have done tomorrow. Quote
silverado777 Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 This is exactly what mine is doing about 4 days after my blower install. First gear climbs to about 3-3500 rpm before it shifts. But its more like slipping into second gear and is very hesitant. Does the same thing when shifting into 3rd but not as bad. Ordered my Performabuilt on Monday, should have it next week. Quote
2bfast Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Remove pan and inspect what is at the bottom of the pan. Post with your results Quote
bradss_03 Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 Remove pan and inspect what is at the bottom of the pan. Post with your results It seems to have been the remote starting security system. I guess something to the effect that the truck itself was conflicting with the remote start. Quote
zippy Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Two things to mention there. The first is that it sounds as if the remote start may have blown the "ign 0" fuse which will put the trans into limp mode causing it to take off in third gear and never upshift to fourth. This of course will create a very lazy take off from a standing start as well as give you the feeling like it isn't shifting. Many remote start's are wired in using this fuse for a power source and this is a result of that. Something else that will create the same simptoms for those interested is plugged cats. Plugged catalytic converters will create a lack of power condition causing a sluggish acceleration as well as very poor shift feel, including at times no upshift to 4th, no tcc, or very delayed shifts.
