jswc61 Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 my truck is leaking gas down the side of the tank (passenger side, towards driveshaft)... what are the suspect things to check.... i dont think its coming from the tank itself because if i leave the truck overnight it takes two attempts to start unless i let the fuel pump build pressure and cut out.... ive had a quick look but cant really see much... just wondering if there is a few easy things to check before i dig right in and start tearing things apart... with gas prices at $1.52/litre its pretty hard watching it go down the drain in my garage floor... these trucks are hard enough on gas at the best of times dont need to be leaking it as well Quote
Fireman31 Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 What do you see when you crawl under the truck? Are there any signs of physical damage to the tank? Quote
jswc61 Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 What do you see when you crawl under the truck? Are there any signs of physical damage to the tank? not really any damage.... a few minor scratches on the bottom of the tank... what makes me think that its not the tank is that it will only leak for a few hours then stop until i start the truck again... and that first start i need to let the pump build up pressure or it wont fire up on the first attempt it will take two... maybe im wrong but thats making me think that the gas im losing is coming from one of the lines outside of the tank and not the tank itself Quote
Fireman31 Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Probably the wisest thing to do is to drop the tank, this way you can see everything...... Quote
