Anyone Remember?

Anyone remember an OLD post about not being able to run synthetic in the front diff on "some" models? I have a pinion seal leaking after rebuilding the front diff and I used synthetic even though it calls for 80-90, I can't remember exactly what the post was but it was something about the earlier models, something about which color vent you have, (mine is an 03) that would either blow out of the vent OR it can't vent synthetic, thus blowing out of the seals?? I have looked all through here and can't seem to find it. Just trying to see if I need to go back with regular oil OR change the seal again...Thanks

I just changed mine prolly a month ago maybe and i used valvoline durablend 8w0-90 gl5 gear lube.. I have a 03 Sss. I think it was synthetic so am screwed....?
