jaxxon Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 My SSS rides super hard - Running a BellTech 2/4 drop kit w/Nitro shocks that came with the kit. It's just a miserable stiff, back jarring ride over bumps... Does anyone have any idea's on how to get a better ride? It shit ride was ok when I was 18 but motocross has taken it's toll on my back over the years... BTW I'm open to a new suspension system all together. Quote
The_aSSet Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Did you cut the bumpstops appropriately? Quote
cmoney23 Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 X2 Check and make sure your not riding on your bump stops... Im lowered 4" in rear also with hangers/shackles with belltech street performance shocks and it rides just as good if not better than stock for me.. Quote
jaxxon Posted April 24, 2012 Author Report Posted April 24, 2012 yes I cut them... i'm looking to really improve the ride. It's just super harsh - Front as well as the back... Quote
cmoney23 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 What exactly do u have for lowering parts? Lca's, spindles, or lowering keys for the front? And what do u have for the rear? If you have spindles for the front then make sure your still riding on your front bump stops, there actually not really called bump stops, but there actually a active part of the front suspension and your not suspose to cut the front ones. NORCAL SS Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 the nitro 2s are not that great the new belltech street performance ride much better in front are you using keys or spinldes? in rear did you use the short 1/2 inch tall bumpstops? in rear did you tighten the shackles when full weight of truck was on the ground? if not it will bind which makes ride worse Just trying to see whats going on. BLOWN SS/T Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 For the rear shackles, when the rear is up how tight should u put them before loading the weight? And after the it's on the floor you just torque to spec right? Anyone putting grease? What about hangers can ou torque those to spec on jack stands? Threadhighjack lol Quote
NORCAL SS Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Guys if a place sold you a kit you can ask them on any questions also they should be able to help.................... but prob not cause all they do is sell parts lol Quote
lgowen343 Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 OK I bought the kit from NORCALSS. It rides great. DJM 3/4 LCA's and rear shackles and hangers. Belltrech Street performance shocks all around. Has a great ride except it bangs in the rear when I hit a bump. Kinda of annoying. other than that I love the lowering kit. not sure whet might be wrong on mine. I feel it a lot more on my right rear. Quote

lgowen343 Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 About a 1 1/4". Seems to hit on the right side alot more than the left. Quote
lgowen343 Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Mine is alot like Jaxxon's. But my front rides great. The whole truck rides great except for the rear on a bumpy road. It slams in the back hard. So here are some facts since you asked me what my measurements were. 1... Not sure if the place that lowered it torqued the shackles or hangers when it was on the lift or with full weight. 2... Shock extension is on the right side. I thought it was to be mounted on the left side? I could be completely wrong tho. 3.... I have the excact kit that cmoney23 has and he doesn't have a banging rear end proplem. so I'm thinking I just need to loosen the bolts under load to let the suspension settle or somthing else is wrong with the install. Let me know NORCAl. Quote
NORCAL SS Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 if you have 1.25 inches from rear axle to frame your rear leafs are prob worn out. A 4 inch djm kit with the short bumpstops you should have 2.5 inhes at least. also the nitro belltech shocks arent the greatest the new street performance are much better. And also the shop might have put the stock length shocks you have in there now so that doesn't help at all also. the rear djm kit has only 1 shock extender and it goes on right side and 2 different length shocks are supposed to be used. lgowen343 Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 I have the BT SP shocks installed. It's 1 1/4" from the bottom of the wafer to the axle. So my springs are prob worn out. Doesn't surprise me. Thanks for the help. I will say it rides like a Caddy on the freeway, LOL. Thanks Norcal Quote
lgowen343 Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 I'll have to check the invoice you sent me but I think I got 2 rear shocks with the same part number. Quote
