chpspecial Posted August 2, 2012 Report Share Posted August 2, 2012 You can either get the plug that goes with the new alternator and repin the harness it take it back and get an alternator from an 04 suburban, they had the 145 amp alt with the 1x4 pin plug.... Akslowroller Posted August 20, 2012 Report Share Posted August 20, 2012 What are you doing to your truck that makes you want a higher output alt? I just put a 300 amp alt. in my ss. Easy plug and play. The difference is how the truck controls voltage which is why the plug is different. So I don't know if you can run the older alt. Akslowroller Posted October 5, 2012 Report Share Posted October 5, 2012 Maybe the voltage regulator is messed up. But my voltage is different from day to day. Akslowroller Posted October 5, 2012 Report Share Posted October 5, 2012 Even though they are built in they can still go bad. I deal with a shop the builds alts. All the time and they have replaced the regulator on one of my alts before. Way better than buying a whole new one. Well cheaper anyway.
