Would you buy your SSS all over again?

I'd have to say no for now and I've only owned mine for a couple months. Within the first few weeks I had to have the front diff rebuilt. Just fixed the dash lights and meters myself (WTF?!). Still need to get the steering wheel clunk fixed and I've read that the transmissions on these trucks will probably need to be fixed as well.

I guess I'm just wishing I did more research on my first Chevy purchase. I figured any newer car/truck these days would be pretty reliable. I've owned many imports (cars and trucks), a Dodge Ram and Magnum, and couple Jeeps and I've never had to put this much money in just repairs. My money usually went towards upgrades.

I'm guessing I'll get the typical "Don't let the door hit you on the way out" type replies you see on fanboy forums, but anyone else feel the same or go through this phase?

I would if I knew gas prices was going to be this high. But have you ever thought your truck maybe just worn out, or a lemon. Don't assume all Chevrolets are junk just because your first time around was a bad experience. It's hard for me to see myself driving anything else but a Chevrolet.

It's a hard question, but probably not. I love my truck and all the looks it gets and how much it stands out, but it's just not "fun" enough. If I had the chance to sell it or go back in time to the point where I bought it, I'd probably get either a genesis coupe, Evo X or IX, or a g35 coupe.

Ok, well, I guess I'll be the first to say hell yes I would. I love my truck. Not only is it a bad ass truck, but there is just something about a man having a full size truck. If I didn't have my truck I would just feel like something was missing.

I had my SS for 7 years. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Unless you know the complete history of your truck, don't be too quick to judge based on the condition of a 9 year old vehicle. As stated above, it could be worn out, abused, whatever. If you know that your truck has been properly cared for, then that's another thing. Nevertheless, a 9 year old vehicle is bound to need some repairs for things that have worn out. Mine did, and I never abused it.

Not only would I but I have, I had a 2003 SS, sold it due to having a baby on the way, then bought another one just like it earlier this year. Your truck is almost 10 years old and all cars at that age generally need maintenance. You can do a lot of cool stuff to these truck and make them very fast, but even a stock truck gets you lots of looks and is really fun to drive, yet you can also still use it as a truck if the need arises unlike the Ford or Dodge performance trucks. My current truck has 204k on it and hasn't had anything but the regular scheduled maintenance done, my first 2003 SS had 78k on it when I sold it and was in great shape with only regular maintenance.

I have owned my truck for 7 going 8 years and I still shead a tear every fall when she goes into storage for the winter.... I guess the only thing I think about is if I would never of bought this truck and started modding it throughout the years I would have enough money today to buy a really nice newer Z06 or Viper or f350 ferrari lol but than again I wouldn't have 8 years of timeless memories and trials and tribulations with the ole' black beauty. On a side not I never have had a major problem besides self inflicting performance mods on a stock tranny..... :jester:

That would be a tough one. I love my SS and I plan on keeping it, but when I bought it I had a perfectly good 2001 Silverado ECSB 4x4 with low miles. I was making payments to my dad and would have paid it off in less than a year and my payments were only $200 a month. I drove by the local chevy dealership every day for a couple weeks and saw this sexy looking SSS and decided I had to have it.

From a coolness standpoint the SSS it was a smart decision. From a Practical and Financial standpoint the SS was a bad decision. I spent a lot of money on payments and mods. The SS is not the most practical for me because I cant take it off road, hunting, to the dump and I hate driving it in winter, all things I like or have to do. My regualr Silverado I had allowed me to do all those things no problem. With my SS I have to try to keep it spotless which has lead me to spending tons of money on Adams products and Constantly spending time washing it. With my regualr Silverado I was a little more lax and did not care as much obout keeping it spotless.

Sometimes I wish I still had my regualr Silverado but every time I drive my SS and look at it after a fresh detail I remember why I bought it and why I love it.

I sold my Magnum SRT8 and a little Nissan pickup and bought the SS. Biggest reason is the real wheel drive on both vehicles and didn't feel safe taking the 4-yr old in the rear jumper seats of the Nissan. I need a truck for all the remodeling projects we have on the house, wanted 4X4 or AWD for the Mt. Hood/Bachelor and the rain here in Portland, and a hitch for the boat and travel traveler. The SSS seemed like the perfect all-in-one solution. Being a "fast" pickup made it better, and not seeing many around (only saw one other one since buying) was icing on the cake.

I would agree a 10-year old car/truck needs maintenance, but I would call oil changes, timing belts, etc "maintenance". Rebuilding differentials, fixing the instrument panel (still can't believe this had to be done), transmission issues, steering wheel clunk (never even heard of this before this truck) etc are a little unusual. My previous cars/trucks were made between 1983 and 2008 and none had any serious issues. Just ordinary maintenance issues. Maybe I have been lucky up until now, but I just don't think a newer (2000+) truck should have these types of issues. Maybe in the 80's...

I guess I'm just a little disappointed in what could've been the "perfect truck" for me. :(

Still pretty damn close though...
