After reading Steve's, (Silverado 777) build thread, and about how he is going about getting a G8 as a DD as he sorts out the truck, I did a quick google on the G8 as I am not all that familiar with them but do like what I do know about them.

Came up with this little interesting story.

I would love to see them come out with a new El Camino.  Here's a link to the Holden ute,

It's funny because the guy I'm buying the G8 from is actually from Australia and started turning it into the Holden version with the badges. They have some cool cars over there.

I cant wait for GM to finally bring the G8 back. The only problem is that its going to be called the Chevy SS, I think that name is terrible I wish they would bring back a aname from the past like Chevelle. SS is supose to be a trim package not a actual model.

BTW its going to be the new Chevy NASCAR car.

I wondered about the SS name. I was hoping that they meant that it would be an SS version of whatever model name they gave the car.

I'm with you, Digger, that isn't good as a name. Kind of confusing. It will make a good looking race car.

I think Chevelle would be a great name. Its a slightly larger than the Malibu but is RWD and high powered so Chevelle makes sense to me.

The rumor is that since this new car will be on the Zeta platform (same platform as the Camaro/ Holden Comadore) which is going to be phased out in a couple years the SS name is just kind of a place holder. They will sell it for a couple years as an SS in limited quantities and see how it does. Then in a couple years when GM phases out the Zeta platform then they can create an all new RWD Sedan based on the extended version of the Alpha which is what the nex cadillac CTS will be based on. Then they might name it something else like Chevelle. The Camaro is also going to downsize to the regular Alpha platform and share the same platform as the new ATS

SS is now a model, Ram 1500 pickup instead of Dodge Ram 1500. All seems a little odd to me. Since when is Ram a manufacturer?
