HutsonSS
Just bought my 04 SS with 120,000 miles on it last month. It has seemed to shift kinda hard sometimes but last night it almost seemed to stall out from first to 2nd. Then, after I parked it, I got back in and no Reverse. It will still go forward. Is my transmission shot??? If so do most people rebuild them or buy new? Expensive??? Thanks
KrausMotorSports
Sounds more like valve body from my experience but others who are more familiar with tuning may consider your PCM malfunctioning. Rebuilds can be exspensive but if you plan for future mods- Consider Finish Line Transmission if it does pan out to be bad altogether. Hopefully somebody will chime in for ya with greater transmission knowledge than I.

2003_SuperSport
Just bought my 04 SS with 120,000 miles on it last month. It has seemed to shift kinda hard sometimes but last night it almost seemed to stall out from first to 2nd. Then, after I parked it, I got back in and no Reverse. It will still go forward. Is my transmission shot??? If so do most people rebuild them or buy new? Expensive??? Thanks I had the exact same problem. The tranny seemed to stall to high rpms before shifting into second then third shifted fine. Reverse also would not operate correctly ( but thats what I get for having a cammed up supercharged engine and a stock tranny with servos.). The good thing was I was planning on rebuilding it anyway with a full trans-go reprogramming kit and Torque Converter. I had 90% of my parts saved up and in possesion at the time the stock tranny gave out. So it was as simple as bring the truck to my fathers shop and rip and tear cuss and swear. We found that the clutches burnt up but surprisingly the reaction shell's stock weld held up... We rebuilt it obviously with better clutches bands and a beast reaction shell and other parts to secure longevity and performance. So all in all your tranny is more than likly shot and plan on at least 1000-2000 in parts alone to rebuild and rebuild right. Otherwise have FLT or other reputable tranny shop have one built for ya. Not everyone has the luxery of ASE family members and their business at their will. Still thats a challenge to ask my old man to help me.
