Lowering and breaking tail lights

After lowering my truck a few months back (2/4) I broke the bracket on my tail light. The truck bottoms out from time to time due to the truck not being c-notched. I made a new bracket, and fixed the tail light. But last night, I hit a big pot hole that not only caused the whole truck to shake, but broke the new bracket. Now I can't figure out a way to fix the tail light again, so a new set of tails is on my wish list.I can't afford to c-notch the truck right now, so I am looking for other options. The bump stops are trimmed too. What can I do to prevent breaking my tail lights again?

take the bump stop brackets totally off, and be careful until you get a cnotch. never heard of breaking tail lights though.

i took the brakets off mine also and bought small flat bump stops to bolt onto the frame.

i have had 1 of the 2 tabs break off my old tail lights, it sucks!

The bracket broke right behind where the light screw goes in. The bracket was a L piece of plastic screwed into the plastic. I got a good deal on some oem tails that have been smoked. They should be here in a few days. I also ordered thin bump stops. So we shall see how that works out.

Ihad the same problem when I first lowered my truck(3/4). Took the bump stop brackets off and it very rarely slams anymore. My tail lights are fine. but I also have the stock tail lights in my garage just in case. What shocks are you running?
