Name is Paul, engine builder, tuner, swapper since the late '80,s cut my teeth on Datsun Z cars, SBC conversions, last project was a '97 BMW M3 that I originally installed a 5.3 LM7 and T56, after 5000 miles swapped in a 6.0L LQ4, drove it for another 26,000 miles and just sold it yesterday for something bigger, more info on that here;

Was considering BMW 5 series with 6.0L LSx of course, but also have the itch for Chev/GMC full size gas ext cab or quad cab truck. My roots being sports cars and appreciation for luxury appointments, the Chev SS and GMC Denali pickups have the strongest pull on my attention currently.

We currently own a 2001 Suburban 1500 4wd, bought it 9 years ago with 31,000 miles on it, now has 276,000 miles on it, love it, no plans to sell it, just yet any how.

This would be a long term relationship so going to cuddle up the forums search-engine over the next couple weeks, would like to hear feedback on the loves and hates with your Silverado SS's

Thank you,

Paul

Thank you gents.

Perusing the AWD, Diff and Trans section it appears the front diff is somewhat common issue followed by the AWD transfer case.

Begs a few questions;

1) is the diff form the 4wd trucks/SUVS different form the AWD in the SS? I would assume it is the same, you just never know.

2) How different is the 4wd 4L60E compared to the SS 4L60E? Our Burb has 276,000 miles trans hasn't given us a lick of trouble, of course it's only a 5.3 and not driven hard.

3) 4wd vs AWD t-case swap, BCM issue's for the swap etc.. gonna cuddle up to search engine on this one, input and links on this would be appreciated as well.
