zippy
i'm a gm fan, drive gm vehicles, and work for a gm dealer, but let's call that what it really is. it's mearly advertising for gm. if they were sincere about it, they'd do it and not feel the need to point out to everyone what they plan to do. things like this are just a publicity issue. keeping american workers with jobs to pay for this war is more important than doing this. i'm not saying it's not a good deed, but many people are fighting in this war, way more than they can "show support" to and like most companies currently, they are out for public opinion on this. Bombtech
Nice try Dave, but the Ford foundation has nothing to do with the Ford auto company, that is how the Fox news report was carefull to word it so there would be no confusion. Yes, I saw this report myself! You know your tactic of misinformation would make a liberal. As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal tech with friends over there and with the possibility of going over myself for the disposal of weapon stockpiles and render safing of mine fields, I find your attempt at propaganda in poor taste. You should work for the left.
dcairns
My mistake, you are mostly right. I did not realize the Foundation was independent of the Ford Company now. I remembered seeing the article you mention and had tried to find it again, but was not able to, so I tried doing my own bit of research. Seems like the frist link from Ford Motors to Ford Foundation is a weak one that I did not look carefully at. I was not attempting to be in poor taste, and I am sorry if you took offense. It is hard to stomach reading the entire website of such organizations. Still, they do have something to do with each other. The Ford Foundation, did get it's start from Henry and Edsel Ford, but it is now it's own run-amok organization. Your comment sent me back to check on the link between Ford Motors and Ford Foundation and I found this explanation from the Ford Foundation: "Founded in 1936, the Foundation operated as a local philanthropy in the state of Michigan until 1950, when it expanded to become a national and inter-national foundation. Since its inception it has been an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization. It has provided slightly more than $10 billion in grants and loans. These funds derive from an investment portfolio that began with gifts and bequests of Ford Motor Company stock by Henry and Edsel Ford. The Foundation no longer owns Ford Motor Company stock, and its diversified portfolio is managed to provide a perpetual source of support for the Foundation's programs and operations." At least it is good to see that Ford is not as bad off on it's corporate giving as I thought. And unlike a liberal, I am willing to admit I made a mistake. Bombtech
Thank you for understanding. In the last couple of days I have seen some good men and women off to Iraq and I guess I'm still a little bothered by it. Thanks.
dcairns
Thank you for understanding. In the last couple of days I have seen some good men and women off to Iraq and I guess I'm still a little bothered by it. Thanks. It is never easy seeing people you know and love go into harms way. That is why the who thing about what I thought was Ford Motors supporting the anti-war crowd, bothered me enough to speak out. Let there be no doubt, my thoughts and prayers are with our troops in Iraq, and around the rest of this screwed up world, for that matter. I guess my budding carrer as an investigative journalist is in doubt now Guess I better stick to computers
