Akslowroller
Light the above states my plate lights stopped working tonight. No bad fuses and its kind if hard to believe both LEDs went out at the same time. Anyone with any ideas let me know. I will start checking everything with a DMM tomorrow. Akslowroller
Well I figured it out the other day. LEDs completely burnt and kind if started a small fire. But no bad fuse. So replaced the bulbs and presto changeo they worked. I just thought it was strange that both would go bad the same day
canadianVRss
Maybe some kind of surge or short. Funny the fuse didn't pop.
Blown 346
My buddys did the same thing with his LED plate lights in his TBSS. The wiring burnt up where the wiring meets together before it seperates between both plate lights.
Akslowroller
Hmmm I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to just give those wires a once over.
Blown 346
I re wired it with 12 guage wire instead of the 16 guage that is used.
[email protected]
I wonder if possibly the leds are getting too much power, are they definitely designed to be used in 12V source? I'm sure they are but they may need a small resistor to help if it happens again
Akslowroller
They were out I brand made for 12 volts. They were a weird design. And what I mean by that is they are on open type were everything is exposed. So I went to a vision x led which has the plastic base like a regular 194. [email protected]
okay, i understand now, probably shorted from moisture or something being exposed
Akslowroller
Yeah that was my guess. There wasn't really any moisture in there but it probably all evaporated from the blaze.
