WantaSSS
HI all --- My father in law has a 2005 avalanche and the trans just went in it. I was wondering 1> is the trans a 60 or 65e? 2> is there different year 60e's? What I mean is will any year rebuilt 60e drop in for the 2005. I saw that some list trans for like 98-04 and 05 and up? Can anyone clarify this for me ? Thanks
diggerdan11
It should be the 60e, and I would think that any 60e transmission would work.
chawkins6789
I would just stick to your generation of 60 like 03-06 Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX using Xparent Red Tapatalk
Aldofashow
Go to your local salvage yard and get one out of a 03-05 Denali pickup or SUV escolade as well same year if its like the one near me you'll have your choice and they'll have mileage pick one with low miles a tranny shop could charge a little under 2000 for a rebuild with no modifications Edited March 29, 2013 by Aldofashow (see edit history)
chpspecial
There are a few differences between early 60s pre 94, 94-96, and 96+ just stay with a 99+ they are all the same. 99-00 might /might not have the glued in PN switch Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Downeast Johnny
Our trucks have trans info, (and other stuff, of coarse), coded into the VIN. I did a search and found a link to this VIN decoder recommended by someone on another forum. Maybe it will work for you. Good luck. http://www.analogx.com/contents/vinview.htm

Fireman31
No need to decode the VIN, just check the RPO codes in the glove box, should be an M30 for a 4L60E if memory serves right.....
