race silverado ss
Has anyone put a 6 speed Allison transmission in our SSS?
chawkins6789
That will be hard. The 8.1L and Duramax trucks that come with them have a 2" body lift to clear the Allison. It is a very large transmission Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk
diggerdan11
yeah it would be a very expensive conversion, better off getting a 4L80

onebadmax
An allison would hold up quite well to a 500hp lq9 in stock form. BUT, it is not a racing trans, even with extensive work, it will not shift like a 60E or 80E. My Duramax has a fully built 10k allison behind it. At 850hp and 1400lb/ft it lasts about 8 passes. Off going clutches can't release fast enough, thus the trans is in two gears at once (briefly). Plays hell on clutche packs and hard parts.
