AugustBurnsRed19
So the transmission is missing again we are debating on buying a kit for 500hp and 450tq and installing it ourselves or doing a 4L80E swap. What would we need to perform a 4L80E swap? I read two duramax driveshafts and a 1350 yoke. Or should I give the 4L65E a third chance? Downeast Johnny
I am contemplating going with an 80 before I blow up a 60 the first time. There are quite a few threads on this swap. Here is one of the best from ShawnSS; http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/78638-how-to-4l80e-swap-into-awd-silverado-ss/?hl=%2B4l80+%2Bswap
AugustBurnsRed19
Oh that's badass man I appreciate that! Alright now to make the decision. Swap 4L80E or give the 4L65E another chance?

8hnpSS
well it sounds like you have a bad trans builder. im not sure on your mods so i cant advise you which way to go. that being said ive had my 65e behind 2 different blowers and many 1/4 runs for 4 years now and it still runs perfect
AugustBurnsRed19
Lol are you insulting me? Okay I see. Fyi when it first broke we assumed it wasn't because of the horsepower so we simply put it back together with the same parts but new ones. Turns out its because I'm making too much hp. So I bought a shift kit and servo and tranny cooler before we put it on it started slipping again.
AugustBurnsRed19
Now the reason I say that is because we will be installing some ported heads soon I'm not gonna want the trans break a 4th time.
canadianVRss
Have you considered the tune?
AugustBurnsRed19
I don't think its the tune I think its my fault lol he told me to put a shift kit and I never did now its slipping I took too long. But I wonder if a 4L65E with a shift kit will hold heads cam intake
canadianVRss
Yes, but for who knows how long. I'm on my original Trans with 300 000km and 50+ cammed and stalled passes. Servos and shift kit.
AugustBurnsRed19
Is there any site that sells a built 65e input drum? (High performance) not looking to spend 2gs on a built 65e
