Fireman31 Posted February 1, 2014 Report Share Posted February 1, 2014 Mike, don't start throwing coil packs at it. Slide under the truck while it is cold and wrap on each cat with a closed fist. I bet you will hear a rattle, which means the cat is degrading internally. A failing cat is a common cause of a a P0300 random misfire code with these trucks. Blown 346 Posted February 2, 2014 Report Share Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) To find a bad coil pack, doesnt mean you have to start replacing them. Find out what cylinder is mis firing. Take that coil off and swap it out with another cylinder. If that other cylinder misses, you know its thats coil pack. Its easy and only takes a few minutes.
