Whipple/superchargers4less electronics/injectors

Recommended Posts

I already have the unit... i was just wanting to see if this setup was actually tried/tested because i like that idea way more than the piggyback unit and extra injectors.... but if it doesn't work then i guess it isn't a great idea.....

A few guys at LS1Tech.com have done this with their Whipple. Check over there....

would it make more power then the radix? or is the radix still the best just because it runs cooler?

I would say it has more potential too for sure..... when the intercooler comes out perhaps?(if it comes out) I have checked over on LS1tech (thnks naked AV) and called pcm4less and a couple other places and it seems the setup works pretty well, altho there is a slight bit of tuning to do, which i still don't quite fallow, for instance, when i get my tune from pcmforless, and say its alittle lean, then i guess i would have to keep sending it back til it gets right? and also, since there is no 4x4 dyno around here, how would i tune the thing anyway to make sure it's right????

Nate

i've had my whipple for about two months now

and i love it

but i'm using the whipple computer and extra injs

make sure you get the updated system with injs before the compressor

that will drop the air temp alot .

if you use the whipple computer instead of the large injs

you will have to unhook the bypass system which is the valve

that under light load will give stock gas mileage when not under boost

you un hook the bypass valve when you do a custom tune and

loose gas mileage because you are always under boost

if you read on whipple's web site and they say if you custom tune and

bigger injs you will have lean cylinders with oem design of

the intake manifold

Hmmmm i see i never heard of this piece of info, very interesting. Why won't the bypass work with the custom tune?

I would have to call "Shenanigans!" on this statement. :icon_bs:

I have a Nelson tune, 42lb SVO injectors, and have rid myself of the Whipple piggyback electronics as well as the 2 auxilary injectors. No loss in gas mileage here as I still get 17-18 mpg. My boost bypass works EXACTLY as it did with the Whipple EFI box, except that it never goes into "Safe Mode" anymore, which is exactly what I wanted. Autotap shows that the A/F ratio is just fine. All of this at 11 lbs of boost mind you. Runs like hell, even though it just made the 4L60E puke it's guts out last month :D

Here's a video made before the SVOs were installed...enjoy!:

They will never know you didn't use the wiring and handheld unless you tell them.

I was the first one that I know of to remove the whipple harness and run larger injectors with tuning. This was on my 99Z71. I bought LS1 Edit the same month it was released for beta testing. I installed SVO 36# injectors then, because the 42#ers weren't out yet. Tuning my truck was much easier from that point on. There was no way to accurately know when the whipple computer was throwing in extra fuel. It was falsly telling the PCM incorrect IATs.

There was a guy who did a before and after dyno on his whipple 5.3 recently. He removed the whipple junk and ran the 42# injectors and tuning that Kenne Bell sells as a kit. It was good for a much smoother power curve and 30+ HP I believe with no other mods. I'd check with Kenne Bell for a price on their De-Whippling kit.
