PittySS
I recently put longtube headers with no cats, full 3" exhaust piping into the corsa catback system. I also put NGK TR55 spark plugs (0.060 gap) with 10.3mm Taylor race wires. My SS is misfiring at WOT, the engine light has come on blinking once. Is this caused by the 0.060 gap? I heard it would retard the timing, but is this my issue? it calls for a 0.040. Eric
cb2big4u
The bulletin said to go to a .040 gap to prevent missfire a while back. I would say its very likely. Sent using Tapatalk.
shawnss
Why such a big gap? theres no need for them to be gapped like that. you need to close them more.
1BAD2K
Why such a big gap? theres no need for them to be gapped like that. you need to close them more. That's what I was thinking. .060 is way too open.
PittySS
Ok thanks boys, put a set of AcDelco Iridium plugs with 0.040 gap. Shes way smoother now & exhaust sounds cleaner too! Someone on the forums told me to run the wider gap but i guess it must need a tune or something to run 0.060? Eric
Downeast Johnny
Have you re-tuned for the long tube's? Wouldn't be a bad idea, if you haven't.
Aldofashow
The butcher says to run 0.040 gap don't stick your head in a bulls ass to find out (LoL)

coal miner
Could run a little bigger gap with better coils maybe some msd coils or something. The short gap gives you a hotter spark.
Aldofashow
Stock coils are perfectly fine don't waste your money on expensive coils
Blown 346
Honestly, I have had 2 SSS's. One liked the .060 gap, and the one I have now like the .050. Each motor will respond differently...
Krambo
Stock coils are perfectly fine don't waste your money on expensive coils Agree. I assume this is a random cyl misfire? P0300? Close down the gap a bit and ensure you didn't chip the electrode.
