cleansss20
Current mods on my 03 SS are p1-sc procharger with 3.85 pulley on 8#. Obx lt headers, ls9 injectors, walbro 255 in tank, 4l80e swap with circle d 3600 stall. I want to add a intake, cam, meth injection and possibly heads. What is a good cam for boost? Also im on the fence about whether or not to upgrade the heads or not. Doesn't boost go down when you upgrade the heads? Or does the better flow make the boost levels less important? Im wanting a good set of heads but don't want to break the bank with 2k heads. Just a little help will be appreciated. A buddy is going to order all of my stuff for me and wanted to know if I wanted ls3 heads. I didn't want to buy an intake for my stock heads then want to upgrade later and have to get a different intake. Thanks Edited September 5, 2014 by cleansss20 (see edit history)

cleansss20
It should be at the house any day now. Took about a month for the insurance company to come to the conclusion to total it. They gave me 18800 for the truck with a 2k buy back. I got it back plus 16800 and got to keep the clean title because of its age. The frame is straight. Its costing me like 6k to fix it and im upgrading to a cowl hood and electric fan also. So now im going to take a little bit of that extra $$ and do some performance mods. I only paid 15,500 for the truck and its paid for so after fixing it I will have 10k in my pocket plus a clean title SS that I could probably sell for 15 or 16k so I say I did pretty good lol

2003_SuperSport
Boost is measured as restriction the better flowing system you have such as headers etc. the lower boost you'll have but the more efficient you will run and allowing just as much HP as something more restrictive with higher boost... Thats why Turbos and centri chargers produce more power at lower boost and alow more boost to be safely added without octane problems... Most people think the more boost you have the more HP you get which is right and wrong... It's all about efficiency... My radix may be able to produce 10psi boost max but be less hp because it has to work harder therefor creating more heat to creat the same boost as a turbo which doesnt have to work nearly as hard to produce the same boost level... Hope that makes sense....
cleansss20
so your saying get the heads? lol Will any ls3 heads do? Im not trying to spend 2k on a set of heads but saw some on summit for like 600/head and 1300 sounds better than 2500. But if the stock heads are just as good then I will just do cam and intake and call it a day with meth.
canadianVRss
The rectangle port heads do out flow the cathedrals. But you can't just budget 1300 for a set of rectangles because you'll have to factor in a new intake manifold as well.
cleansss20
I was going to buy an intake anyways thats why i asked if it was worth it to buy heads. I didnt want to buy an intake now for the stock heads and have to change later.
canadianVRss
Ahh I see, then rectangle port heads would be the way to go if you are getting a new intake anyway. It'll give you the opportunity to go to a four bolt, 90mm or larger TB as well.
Mitchellmade1
if you are going for rect port head best for boost out of the box are the cts v / zl1 heads thicker deck surface better casting less prone to cracking between intake and exhaust seats and better valves than reg ls3 heads minimal difference on price and you can use LY6 intake great for boost to keep cost down for you Edited September 23, 2014 by Mitchellmade1 (see edit history)
idahoBLKss
Yeah if your going to do a budget head get the LSA heads they are off of the Cadillac CTSV. I picked some up this spring off of the ctsv form. Just remember when you do switch to better heads and intake yes you will more then likely see less boost but you will probably be seeing the same power or more with less boost. Your running a big pulley on the p1 anyway after you make the changes pulley down to a 3.4-3.5 or sell your head unit and upgrade to a D1 if funds allow that's where you will see a big power change.
