SC IT IS

Recommended Posts

Unless you're at the track drag racing all the time I think you'd be disappointed with a centrifugal like the Vortech.  Daily driver-type vehicles are best suited to a twin-screw or roots style SC like the Radix.

this from a guy who isn't happy with his radix. :jester:

(just messin' with ya kevin).

from what i can see the most important difference to consider first is that going with a vortech is going to require a stall converter to make street driving fun. i think the boost lag issue isn't so bad with the vortech with a stall. the last cetrifugal i installed makes boost even in overdrive when you roll on the throttle and by about 10 feet out from a stand still has 5psi already. on the other hand it has a vigilante 2800 in it. i really like both superchargers and both are time proven as well as both have shown very nice track numbers. the radix is much more fun with a higher stall also, just not as high of a stall. it's a very tough call on which of these two to go with, but i can't say either of the two are a bad choice. i'm not sure myself which i'd pick if i were making the same desicion, but i do know it would be between these two.

That's alright, that was a well-deserved and well-earned barb.

Part of the reason for my disappointment came from blownchevy, who insists on posting only installs that have the most gain (~120 RWHP). I've since found that that is the high end, with many people making only ~100 RWHP, and some even a little less. Bottom line, if you want the most from any supercharger installation, a custom tune will be in order.

So this is the way I am talked about when I am gone? Kevin, I am sure there are more than enough dyno charts out there to keep you busy for a while. I don’t post just the "highest" gains, I post the truth. I am sure that there is not ONE person here that will disagree with me there. After trying my hardest to help you, I am shocked at this post. Have you considered for ONE second that there may be something wrong with YOUR truck and not the Supercharger System? You are pretty much the minority when it comes to issues with the Radix, which should tell you something.

So are you saying that all Radix systems put out 120 RWHP except for mine? That's a simple enough question that I hope you will answer carefully.

Hey NakedAV... I don't mean to flame you here... just an observation... you have a tendency to rub people the wrong way and I think alot of your posts come off a little rude (for lack of a better word) AGAIN... NOT TRYING TO PISS YOU OFF OR SH*T TALK, but theres been a couple of occasions you've gotten under my skin and I have just let it slide... sorry.... just had to say something. :uhoh: I don't think your an a-hole, your posts just come off wrong sometimes.

To answer the question posted...

I agree w/ Zippy on this. I've gotten to ride in an SS w/ the vortec and it was awesome, but he (adam) has done all the other work needed to make a centrifugal SC better (stall, servos, etc.) I've riden in a standard 1500 silverado w/ the vortec and no other mods and it just was scetchy. The radix would be the easier way to go IMO... so if you just want the quick and easy power upgrade that might be the better choice, but I think the vortec would be better if you got all the other stuff done as well.

I agree with Zippy,

If you plan on doing a stall converter and are more into the drag racing aspect then I would go with the Procharger. If you don't wanna use a stall, do a lot of towing or just want tire roasting fun then the Radix is the way to go.. For a turn key system I am really impressed with the Radix system.

You can't deny the ET/MPH of a well tuned and setup Procharger though ;)

I like Procharger also. I like the potential of the centrifugal S/Crs, the Radix has its limits, even though they are hard to reach.

i like procharger, but they are a company that requires the owner to be pretty handy. the systems are half assed, but the head unit's are top notch. if you get a procharger kit, be prepared to work on it to get it how you'd like it to run and how you'd like everything to fit.
