EXGM
On MY SSS after some drives (not all the time) I notice the district smell of coolant. My reservoir is down a small amount but I can't find any leaks. I have tried the interweb and can't find much. I suspect my water pump might be leaking as the truck is 9 years old but it only has 53K. Interesting my 02 LS1 SS Camaro does the same thing but it only has 12K though..... Anyone have an idea or had this problem?
MARTYW
Is your oil milky? Could be a blown head gasket to the inside?
EXGM
Is your oil milky? Could be a blown head gasket to the inside? Nope nothing obvious... I smell at front of engine which leads me to the water pump but I see no evidence of leaking. On both vehicles seems worst after driving hard or after getting warm like sitting in traffic on way home and then parking....
kissfans03ss
Did you try pressure testing your system?
EXGM
Did you try pressure testing your system? No not yet I need to go pick one up. I find it odd both my LS's have same issue....
skolman91
take the plastic skid cover off and take a real good look at the water pump to block for signs of a leak, the gaskets seem to go before even the water pumps do. My brothers truck lost coolant for for a long time with no real trace of it on the ground, could only tell if you took the skid plate off and looked at things.. my 2cents for today.. fifty five
Yeah, might be the waterpump. I had this issue and I thought the res was defective so I bought a new one. It still leaked, so I thought the cap was defective...then I thought the hose was defective... lol. I finally took it to my mech and the waterpump proved to be my issue. and by "bought a new one," I meant got one from the yard
EXGM
Well solved the mystery... I think. When I changed out all my hoses I could see where the old ones were leaking... so after 9 years it was time to change the hoses. also changed the t-stat as it was original.... so far so good! Good news. Hope you've got it figured out. Sounds like it's time for me to check my hoses. Could you see any seeping of fluid anywhere on the hoses? I still have the old hoses I'll try and take a picture and post for you.

EXGM
Ok, Here are some pictures... first one you can see some white at bottom of inside of hose at the end. Second you can see the rust on the bottom of the hose where the coolant caused the spring clamp to rust.
