r8rs4lf
Well, it looks like I will have $4300.00 in my pocket tomorrow. It came as a complete surprise seeing as I never got around to advertising it in any sales papers. A guy down the street said he always wondered if it was for sale, but never asked. He asked today and he was rewarded! Now, hopefully all the reading I have done here about the STS turbo and Radix S/C will pay off. I still haven't made up my mind. Hopefully in the coming days and weeks I will be contacting these prospective companies and talk more in depth about where I will be going with my truck and make a decision about which power adder is best for me. Maybe some of you can help me sway one way or another? Here are some of the things I plan on doing and some I don't. 1. Transmission mods 2. Stall converter unless I don't need it. Ya, right! 3. I don't plan on going into the motor unless I have to, i.e. cam. 4. Guages 5. PCM upgrade (already have a Nelson California 91 octane tune) Anything else?????????? From what I have read, the S/C and turbo pretty much make the same power at motor tolerable boost levels right? Also, would I be correct in assuming that the S/C would be better for light to light and the turbo is better for the long run? I'm sure I will have to talk to STS about all of this, I just wanted to get a feel of what you all thought. Thanks Late- Alex
m396 #00-011
It's going to come down to what your patience level is. If you like to tinker with stuff, and have the time to test and tune, you can feel rewarded in the STS Turbo. If you want something you can basically bolt on and forget about, get the Radix. r8rs4lf
I had it posted here and another site I've seen you on for a while now. And its hard to find one for under 5k still running here in cali. Me and my partner had the exact same year K-5's, but mine was in better condition. He just sold his too. Under $5k and running????? You would have been very happy with mine then! Anyone who bought it, I think got a helluva deal considering what's out there for K-5s. KoTToN
That is one of the nicest k5's Ive ever seen. Your right considering it runs good whoever bought it got one hell of a deal. Although I would not have bought that from you because its too nice and I would ot want to ruin what youve done. I am going to get a k5 strip the inside and line-x it along with the whole outside. Prob just use a do it yourself liner cuz its cheaper and I dont care about the looks. The dash would be ripped out and replaced with diamond plate and the front and rear axles would be replaced or rebuilt. I think I should just go to the local Marine base and pick up a CUCV. http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view...7&convertTo=USD

r8rs4lf
Have you added a shift kit or anything else to your tranny with that Radix install? Also, did you send your PCM out to be reprogrammed or did you use the one with the S/C? I think I might be leaning towards the S/C because of the instant power and ease of install. Basically a bolt on right? Late- Alex
SuperSport
Alex, If you don't think you are gonna do a stall convertor, stick with the radix. then just do a shift kit, servos, and accumulator in the trans.
r8rs4lf
Alex, If you don't think you are gonna do a stall convertor, stick with the radix. then just do a shift kit, servos, and accumulator in the trans. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I wouldn't mind doing a stall converter so long as I know about it going in. Right now, I'm gathering info as to what I need to purchase so I can do it all at once ya know? From what I have read, a 2600 stall would be good if I don't plan on towing all that much. The Radix is looking very tempting right now, but I'll hold off until I get to talk to an STS rep. They are all at SEMA from what I was told. The STS surely has my interest as well because it will grow if I need it to. I just don't know if I will eventually want it to go that way, plus I haven't really heard much of people installing one of these set ups into a bone stock SSS. Decisions, decisions, hmmmmmmmm................... I'm sure after I talk to a STS rep, I'll have a better understanding of which one I will be going with.
