misterp
I have just been impressed with the all-wheel drive on the SS. I drove last night the entire storm from OKC to Stephenville (4-hr drive), torrential downpour the *entire* way. To give an idea of how hard it was raining, there were four major wrecks between OKC and the OK/TX state line, all north-bound strangely enough; EMS was having a field day. I drove with the wipers off, it was raining so hard they were useless, thank goodness for Rain-X because they could not remove the downpour off the glass. Anyway, made great time all considered, 70-80 the whole way, no problem. Even better handling than my old Expedition in the standing water, just outstanding. Several other 'entusiastic morotists' tried tailgating the SS, but completely lost their nerve at about 70mph. I can't wait to see how this truck handles the ice. Another foul weather sidenote - for those that have not done it yet, I HIGHLY recommend the DRL + lowbeam + highbeam mod ($3), it proved absolutely 100% effective at moving over the left-lane squatters. SuperDave
Hey Mister P, Sorry to hear you had a rocky drive going home, hope you enjoyed your brief stay in Oklahoma also. I regret missing out on the Hooters get togather in OKC. Maybe we'll have another chance in the future. My wife and I have been caught on the HE Bailey Turnpike in rain so hard you literally could not see the front of the hood of the truck. A very unnerving feeling at 80 mph in traffic! As for all of the northbound wrecks, I guess it was all of those crazy Texas drivers trying to come into Oklahoma! Have a Good One!

SuperDave
Hank, do a search on the high/low conversion diode mod. It's been posted here with excellent instructions and photos. I bought a kit from Painless wiring which does the same thing, but cost around 40.00. When you hit the high beams, it lights up all four lights. Usuall the low beams go off when on brights. It helps out a lot with nighttime driving. I also found the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs to be a very worthwhile investment. I love mine, but there have been mixed feelings about them here. I hope you find everything OK... Good Luck

Hi/Low beam mod - do a search, everything you need to know is buried in the forum here somewhere... If you still want help I'll take a couple pics and write a couple instructions. You need a couple diodes from Radio Shack and 15-minutes (if that long). Do it, IT ROCKS - hit that flash-to-pass two times and the guy in front of you is blasted with a wall of light. And just last month I thought DRL was totally useless! John - thanks dude. Driving does not normally bother me, it is nothing for me to go to CA almost non-stop (22 hrs). But Sunday night, man, I really had to concentrate the whole way home, it was frustrating and draining. Maybe I was just spent after a long week working in OKC with very little sleep. SuperDave - I really missed meeting you, hope that we can catch each other at a DFW-area meet possibly?? And we alsways have the USTRC finals in OKC every October (been that way for the last 7 years) and there are a few ropings during the year at the Lazy-E, too (Guthrie) so maybe the opporotunity will come up again to drive to your neck of the woods on the company's gas card. I think maybe even New Years... But I am not sure if I will have to be somewhere else that weekend. Crazy Texas drivers my ass! I don't know *how* you guys manage in OKC... my gawd! Went to dinner in Bricktown Friday night, was waiting at the stoplight and saw a hooptie Buick Riviera on hydraulics go around the corner on only three wheels! the last time i saw something like that was in central California in the early nineties! Seriously though, next time I am scheduled to come your way again I'll try to put together a good time for all of us. Mr. P.
