Dylan06SS
I'm pretty sure that its illegal to tell someone its never been in an accident if they ask you directly... but if they don't ask then nothing says you have to tell them. I'm not positive this is true, you might want to check into it more before you get busted for doing it.

m396 #00-011
1st off, it's morals, regardless if it's a dealer or individual. 2ndly, depending on the state and amount of damage, the title might be an indication, although you probably understand that part. 3rd, Most repair shops are setup w/ Carfax of some other form of documintation. 4th, how would you feel if you bought this truck, later to find out? ;)
quickmedic1
I have used carfax before and it does not say(that I know of ) if the vehicle was in an accident. It does tell you if the title is ok or not. If it has been totaled and issued a salvage certificate this should show up. I don't know if it shows the method of the loss ie..water, fire, theft, structural damage, etc. Most dealers look at the vehicle for what it is. If your repairs were done WELL, you should have nothing to worry about. If you are trying to hide a total then you may find yourself with a problem. As stated before...Let your morals be your guide. If you don't have any than disregard the last statement! Good luck
Xero
i am 10000000% sure its 100% illegal. to sell it you NEED a salvage title, even if its been fixed to working order. im not positive but i think its a felony

nippy
I havnt done it....thats why I asked. It wasnt totaled either. It had front end damage. The dealer repaired it to perfect as new.I was thinking about trading it in at another dealer for another vehicle.I just cant see 75% of most people saying "oh yeah by the way I had a accident on the front end" when they are going over the trade balance. KoTToN
if the damage wasnt that bad to begin with and they repaired it good then I wouldnt worry about it.
marc_w
Morally speaking: Selling privately - yes, I'd tell. To a dealer? No. My last truck was crashed. I traded it for this one. The dealer was in such a hurry to get a deal that day, that they never asked me about it, and I figure they have all the tools necessary to see the vehicles history. I honestly have no problem with that. You know what - ACTUALLY, during the paperwork, they asked if the truck had a "clean title". I have no freaking idea what that means, so I asked... he answered, "Has the truck been totaled, flooded, etc. etc." I said, "No, but it was in an accident". He said, "That's fine, as long as it wasn't totaled". "Nope."
Xero
well if it wasnt totaled than no you dont need a salvage title, but im saying if ti were totaled and got it fixed, than you do. and by the way, if they dont ask than its there fault. nippy
I found out today from the dealer who fixed it....there is nothing on the tital because it was not totaled. There is nothing about the frame because it was not repaired....it was replaced. So I checked carfax today and it says the truck has been in no accidents.I think it takes a while for it to register. The dealer with the vehicle I wanted jacked the price on me anyway so Im keeping it for now either way. SPEEDCRAVIN
If its not totaled there will be nothing effecting the title. Just because it was fixed at the dealer does not meen that it will show on Carfax. Usually that info is collected and submitted from insurance claims. It is not illegal to NOT tell someone that it was in a wreck if not asked. But your the one that has to sleep at night, right... JOSH
