mec1469
I was driving near downtown LA yesterday and this black M3 comes flying by me and throws a rev. It was the model before the latest one that's out now. He sounded like he had an exhaust on it and I saw the radar detector on the dash so I figured he was up for it. We come up to the light and there's a bunch of cars in the first and second lanes but I noticed him get over in the third lane so I decided to follow him. He's on pole and I'm right behind him. I see him look in the rear view mirror at me and he revs it a couple of more times. Here we go!!! The light turns green and I'm on it but he pulls away normally. I had to let off and when I did, BANG, he's on it. I punched it and started pulling on him. Then he shifted and I really closed up on him. By the time he was in third gear I was going on by. Took him by a couple of car lengths before this big curve that we both had to brake for. The ole' truck did me right. Now I have to worry about beating my buddy with a 2500HD Crewcab 4x4 and his 500hp Duramax. I'll let you know how that turns out..
DirtySSouth
M3's are pretty darn quick...Id like to know what you have done to you SS...mods ? JK
Dylan06SS
Previous generation M3 are easy pickin's ... theres one local here that I always get into it with and I don't have any problems w/ him till around 75-80mph, thats when he starts to make up ground. I think the main advantage is out of the hole traction.
sswolfpac
yor are right, the new ones are fast , but the old ones i beat with my acura, luv to race one with my ss. an m5 would be bigger game would need more mods for that , maybe a supercharger
haynss
ahhh an M5, id love that car!!! From what i've heard the M3 and M5s were still running 4.3 0-60s. I guess like dylan said at higher speeds I dont see how an SS stands a chance. I didnt think a Stock SS could take an M3, but maybe Still curious about your mods mec
m396 #00-011
Yeah, it wasn't a current gen M3, or he couldn't drive. Maybe a sport 330ci w/ M3 badges. We'd get spanked by the lastest model.

mec1469
mec what mods do you have because i got smoked by an older model m3 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Like I said, it wasn't the latest model. I think it was around a 1995 version. At least it was that body style for sure. The guy didn't miss any shifts so I don't know what else he would have to do to be a good driver. Last I checked, street racing is just point and shoot since there isn't a tree or anything. Anyway, I've got a PCM4less computer, Edelbrock ceramic shortie headers, MSD plug wires, Corsa sport cat-back exhaust, and a Volant intake with the ram air tube. Also, I'm not an SS. I'm a BV4 or "Texas Truck" if you like. Oh yeah, and I'm also running Amsoil synthetic oil and filter and believe it or not, I felt a little bit of an increase in power since I changed to it. My buddy just got a GTech Pro RR so I'll be able to give times and such after I run with it. I hope this doesn't turn into a thread like the guy who raced a Camaro SS. I saw that Camaro thread get WAY out of hand so I thought that I'd nip it in the bud right away. Sorry if I came off as defensive. Anyway, I'll relax now. Breathe!!! That's it, I feel better already. srtSSsvt121
I have beaten an M3 of that year also. Not slow at all but should be faster.
ChevySSandChevy8.1
sounds like a nice kill, it also depends how good the driver was, some can't handle stick very well.
