just my freakin luck while getting tires installed today the person comes out of the garage and needs to see me ( first sign that something is wrong ) usually they say your all set. my first thought is there a problem with the tires. they proceed to tell me the truck was top heavy and it fell off the lift. came down on right side it looks like it just damaged the plastic skirting on the side and the front bumper cover. this sucks i only have 3500 miles on the truck. i think the guy felt almost as bad as i did, at least he was sincere. now i have to get an estimate and turn it in to their insurance company. just had to vent. bill

I was recently at a Just Tires getting a tire replaced... as I was sitting near my truck watching the little bastards like a hawk the Avalanche on the lift next to my truck fell. I couldn't beleive it! The owner was surprisingly calm... I wouldve been on the war path.

Sorry about your truck at least its minor... couldve been worse. I'd demand free tires for life from that place!

It all depends on what type of lift they where using. I've seen a few that when the vehicle is being raised it wiggles around. But a good quality lift shouldn't have an issue unless the tech lifted it in the wrong place.

I wouldn't think I suing though no one was hurt, they didnt lie about it, and they are willing to get it fixed for you.

Sorry to hear it though. :sigh:

The same thing happened to my dad's truck about 2 years ago.

He upgrades his work truck about every four years (he always buys 1 ton Chevy chasis cabs). After he gets the utility bed insalled and all of his other goodies hooked up and ready, he takes it back to the dealer to have it undercoated. As we dropped the truck off, we told the guy (who is a very good friend of the family) that the truck was very top heavy, and that is the put it up on the rack to be very careful! Needless to say that later that afternoon he called to say that the 'truck slipped a little'. We went to look at it, and if that is what the called a little slip, I would hate to see a big one. If it wasn't for the west coast mirrors hitting the support column, I don't know what would have stopped the truck from coming any futher (it pushed the door skin in about 6 inches :nono: ). So the dealer got to put on a new door, had to special order the CHROME west coast mirrors (which in 02 were not a factory option, so we custom ordered a set from the company that makes them for GM), he got to replace all of the vinyl lettering on the door, and put on a new vent visor.

The funny thing was, I expected my dad to fly off the hook (our trucks are like our babies around here). I just wanted you to know you aren't the only one!

P.S. - Red Chevrolet trucks just seem to be natural in my family! :D

Hmmm this is a tough one. I'm usually not sue happy, but I think they need a wake up call. I've seen my trucks go up on lifts several times, they weren't the least bit unstable. Top Heavy, TOP HEAVY :nono: give me a break. If they can't lift a truck cause it's strangely top heavy maybe they should quit and start making flower baskets for a living. The supervisors aren't doing their job. highschool kids make mistakes their bosses shouldn't!!!

If it was me I would find out what your insurance rates will increase to and for how many years. That's one part of the lump. The other is $2-3K is mad money. Treat yourself to a custom paint job or some other mod that will help you get enthusiastic about your truck again

That might be one situation where I snapped

I'm mad right now and it's not even my truck.
