BeefTip
My brothers 03 ss has a volant intake, cutouts and a pcmforless tune. A few days ago it threw an engine code. He went to Autozone to have the code read but when my brother told him he had a comp tune, the guy said that he could read the codes because if he did it would fry the comp tune. I told my brother that it should be ok to get them to check it, but i wanted to see what you guys thought first.
Dylan06SS
I don't see how hooking up a diagnostic would fry it? Sounds more like the guy just didn't want to help him out.
BeefTip
thats what i was thinking, i dont see how a diagnostic tool which is supposed to read those engine codes is going to fry the aftermarket engine program.
SSAlaska
Dude, Go back and get the code checked, It will not hurt anything. Then post the code you are throwing, I am very curious. In additon for Bryan to help you he will need the code. Dont worry about it too much.
TurbochargedBerserker
Autozone guy was lying through his teeth Or just stupid. A local autozone guy told my wife that there was no such thing as self tapping bolts. Even when she showed him one...

edessa
Autozone guy was lying through his teeth Or just stupid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I say stupid, I went last week to the local autozone and told him that I needed the P/N for an AC Delco oil filter for a 2003 Silverado SS. He said they don't exist. After I took him outside and showed him the truck he told me that "all that extra body stuff is aftermarket". I about slapped that fool, but I just got in my truck and will never return.
