chiel
Maybe one of the gearheads overhere can tell me what it does. and how does it work? i have taken it out and in several times but have no clue how it works or in my case doesn't. deezel
Hey chiel, sorry to hear about your shift kit/servo troubles. The servo upgrade increases the surface area of the apply piston for the 2nd gear band. This helps increase pressure and holding power. When you installed the servo, how many "gold" spacers did you use? How tight was the band after the servo cover was replaced? I used one spacer and my band was pretty tight. I couldn't get the servo cover on with 2 spacers (too tight). Also, when I did my shift kit the first time, I had one small spot damaged on the valve body gasket when I re-installed. This caused fluid to leak between passages in the valve body and the trans did not shift properly. I had to take it apart again to find this problem. I re-installed a second time using the stock gasket and being even more careful. I also tightened the valve body bolts a little bit tighter than spec (10% more) to prevent gasket blowing through again. Hope this helps. Good luck. chiel
Deezel tnx, my problem accured after putting the servo in, so i made the rest of the kit in and the problem stayed. after checking i saw i used the wrong sealring (square instead of round) after fixing this it drove but shifted not fine. i but on the vortechset and load the supplied program. the shifting wasn't nice (stayed too long in gears and hit the revlimiter) the next day i drove i only have reverse and 1 and 2. thats were i an now oil smells little burnie too the s/c looks good and engine runs super but without a good gearbox i thought i went save to put a shiftkit in.... My options, i dont know now, i am not happy at the moment
chiel
at first i used 1 gold ring then i tried it without ring and put the normal servo back. No luck. My options: Buy a complete performance gearbox from the usa (shipping long wait) Search a good trans-buissines overhere and take the gearbox apart . Can i see myself if 3/4 is burnt? Can i messure with hptuners linepressure? Burry the sss and forget the whole thing.
deezel
I don't know what parameters HPT can measure, but it might be helpful. Try logging every trans parameter they have - gear, TCC, line pressure, shift solenoids, or anything else related to the trans. It might help pinpoint the problem. chiel
Maybe my gaskets aren't good too, so today i got two new one's from a 4L60E. Now find some time to put them in and see what happens. My shiftkit didn't come with gaskets, i used the old one's and didn't use a pounderwrench to tighten everything. Howmany ponds/kilo to tighten the bolts? I looked in hp-tuners but it can't messure line-pressure.
deezel
The spec for the valvebody bolts is 6-10 ft-lbs. I used about 11.
