ChevySSandChevy8.1
i know what you mean about the snow stuff, but i find that the 20s do okay in the snow, but the 17s will probably help a lot. btw it sorta looks like a theft recovery vehicle. Winter Wheels & Tires <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I did the same, 265/70R17 Wrangler AT/S on takeoff wheels like your's from the dealer I work for. The stock Eagles on 20's did fine last winter but I now have over 30K on them and they are about 50% worn. I hope to get another spring / summer out of them next year. It is supposed to snow tonight so I should get to check out the new tires in the morning.
Rays B4U
I probably would not have gone with the expense of putting snow wheels and tires on, but the second weekend of December we have to go to Caldwell, Id and this time of year you never know what the roads are going to be like. I've only got 21000 miles on my Goodyear 20's and they would do fine if I were going to be staying home, but I didn't want to risk nasty roads with the 20's and I’ve always liked a narrower tire for snowy roads. The snow tires are about 3” narrower with a lot of siping. So with the snow tires and a little weight in the bed I think the AWD should do fine. The following is an experience I had with the 20’s: Last year I was returning home from Spokane on I-90 running along fat dumb and happy at about 75 and not really paying attention to the snow that was falling as it was real wet and not really sticking. Then I hit a cold pocket where the snow had stuck and it was a real heavy slush. The SS started hydroplaning and luckily there were not any cars beside me because it took both lanes to gradually get slowed down. Needless to say, I used the next rest stop to clean my shorts!
