I don't have an SS yet, but I do have a 12 second silverado excab Z71 with a 5.3, which weighs about the same.

Here is what you'd need to keep it plenty streetable and reliable as a daily driver yet have plenty of power:

Headers / Exhaust

Intake

Yank truck 3000 torque converter

125-150 shot of nitrous

LS1 edit

Maybe a mild cam to extend the power curve

Wouldn’t a supercharger be better than a 125-150 shot of nitrous? What about using a ATI Procharger with a intercooler. the torque converter on the ss is it good or does it need to be changed

What would you recommend to help make the ss faster in the quarter mile? I would like to see the quarter mile times in the mid 12. :puke:

I would start with the 550hp setup from Lingenfelter http://www.lingenfelter.com/pac6ltmagsc.asp . They ran a 13.3's in a GMC C3 with only 475hp and is has a 2yr/24k warranty. Here's the Car and Driver article: http://caranddriver.com/xp/Caranddriver/fe...enfelter&page=2. 550hp in a 5200lbs vehicle should run 12.8s.

I figure that if you add a electric fan, air intake with ram air scoop, mass air sensor, jet chip, full exhaust system, Magnacharger Radix, high flow Throttle Body, and tornado air insert you would be abele to get the SS to at least 672 hp :fume: at the wheels for only about $8000. Also your 1/4 mile times would be around 13 more or less.
