dros44
Im looking to do my next mod. I have volant cai with the air scoop and a corsa sport exhaust. I wanted to do the pcm tune, but have always wanted headers. I think they add around the same amount of HP, the TOG sales rep said around 25-35, but the sounds would be unreal. Also a very big diffrence in price looking at around 1100 with insall. What would you guys do?
TurbochargedBerserker
PCM first. The reason is, headers will mean you need a tune to get the most out of them. If you get the PCM now, and go through Nelson or PCM4LESS, both offer free upgrades for new mods (I think) and could retune for the headers. dros44
thats what i was thinking but i dont wann ahave to keep sending the tuner back and forth so i though if i did everything first and then the headers it would be more efficent. But like you said doing the pcm tune will make everything run more efficently.
TurbochargedBerserker
From what I understand, the tuners send you a new PCM and then you send your old one back after its installed. I've never done it or bought a mail order tune, so you might want to check with your tuner of choice first.
dros44
yeah i was gonna call pcmforless today and see what the whole deal with that is
styleandspeed
Pcmforless only does free updates for a limited amount of time, but costs less than nelson to start with. Aaron
BeefTip
I have never sent my pcm back to get new upgrades but as someone mentioned, i imagine that the tuner simply tunes another pcm and sends you that one, when you recieve it you just send your old one back, that way you can still use the vehicle. I think pcmforless charges 50 after a while for re-tunes but you could get it retuned from him several times and still come out cheaper than some of the other tuners. I also would do the pcm first....cheaper and about the same hp.....or save up and do them at the same time, that would be nice to bolt on a quick 55-60 hp increase, you would really feel that one. styleandspeed
Honestly I think that would would see more gain from the PCM, but I definately see the idea of wanting to get all the mods and then tune for them all. Tough call man. I would honestly probably do the computer first.
SSplaytoy
1100 for TOG Headers installed is high. Got mine done for 800. Then again I got the guy to start selling the headers so he gave me a deal.

styleandspeed
Give a call, or e-mail tom at www.tbyrne.com I am almost positive that he can get you a better price than that on the headers.
